dedicated to Safta Ellen, Papa Kenny, Grandma Nancy and Zayde Joel

December 21, 2008 at 11:29. I have been on this great earth now for 10,957 days (give or take a couple leap years) and I swear I am just beginning to more fully grasp just how much my parents did for me. It must be so tough for parents to have put so much energy into raising a child only to have them turn 12/13 and forget all of the things that were done for them. So to our parents I want to say Thank You for everything that you have done for the two of us. The four of you put aside personal needs, worked extra hours, and did so much to provide for us. You stayed up late at night with us, and were our everything for so long. If from time to time we forget to say thank you, do not think it is because we are not thankful, it is because we simply cannot put into words how blessed and thankful we are.

אילת has been a perfect baby, she is simply incredible. We adore every square inch of her. I say this by way of explaining the feeling of angst I have tonight as I got frustrated with my inability to sooth her. I simply do not speak screams and tears... I am not familiar with that language. If by chance somebody has a dictionary for this language, please do share, because I want to be able to speak it back to her :).

All kidding aside. It is impossible to ever do for our own parents what they did for us. It is possible to repay the debt of gratitude that we feel. Unfortunately we often hurt the ones we love the most, and so our parents become punching bags. This must be why honoring parents is legislated in the Ten Commandments. So to the four of you, we love you and thank you.

Now onto some updates:

Tonight was אילת's first חנכה and she tried to sleep through the candle lighting. We lit the candles on the phone with our parents (her grandparents).

She received a red dog that is safe for her age from her Aunt Dayna and Uncle Isaac. She even interacted with it a little.

Ayelet has begun to excel at Tummy Time, and thus she lifts up her head and trys to concentrate on objects on her mat. She even accidentally rolled over last week.

We are beginning to notice facial expressions, but not too many, and are still waiting for that long awaited real first smile.

She also has been experiencing snow for the first time, as is clear from the picture above.

She is definitely growing, we have the tighter fitting clothes to prove it. And she already received her social security card, and her passport, because on February 2nd, we are going to Israel. We will try to keep this blog up to date to the best of our abilities.

חג אורים שמח
