Quite often the hypothetical question is raised of men, if we could, would we do the pregnancy thing. Isn't this the most silly question? I mean, beyond it being so hypothetical, it is unfair to answer. As a husband I am amazed by my wife. As a husband I am inspired by my wife. As a husband I am doing everything in my power to help in any way I can. But how dare I act as if I know what she is going through. How dare I act all cool and say that I would do it for you if I could? I do not know that. I do not know if I could if I had the chance.
What I do know is that it is a miracle that I am watching everyday. Today, my senior rabbi and I were meeting and we were talking about November, and he mentioned that I should be rocking my baby to sleep at 2:00am in November. That is nothing short of a miracle. And I did little to cause it. My wife on the other hand is the miracle worker who is carrying this precious baby inside her. Who has allowed her body to be taken over by this beautiful baby. My wife is my hero. I do not think for a second that I could say I would do this if I could. Because that belittles the realness of what Carrie is doing everyday. I love my wife for so much, and now I love her even more because now she is my superwoman.

The wedding is done, now onto Legoland
We are developing a large following on this blog, so please continue to distribute this link to all of your friends. We love hearing from new people. Some people have been asking about our registering habits. We have been actively registering at Babies R Us. It is under Carrie or Josh Hearshen. We also are registered at babyStyle.com. If you think we are missing anything that is a "must have," please let us know and we will add it on.

Rubbing the belly
Here we are in Michigan. We just had a great family dinner with both of our families together at my parents house. We showed off lego's newest 3d videos, to be uploaded eventually. Regardless, it is incredible what happens when Carrie is in the room with people. They want to connect to her and they want to touch the belly. They rub and claim to know what we are having. They rub the belly and look forward to the future with the baby to be. They rub the belly and let us know how happy they are for us and how they are excited. At Carrie's grandma's and grandfather's house today we sat and visited with the two of them. And one of the most moving moments was watching Papa smile out of nowhere as he reached out at rubbed his granddaughter's belly and his future great grandchild.

A future drummer???
Last night we took Carrie's 27 week pics. As you can well see, I married one beautiful woman and you can also see, the baby is growing.
Carrie and I have a ritual when one of us is ill. What it means is that when one of is not feeling so hot we do not share a bed. This is all due to the time that we both were sick with a bad cold and were so miserable, and had nobody to take care of us. Well, Carrie was sick last week, and so I slept in the guest room (future nursery), and then two days ago I began to get sick and so I am now in the guest room. Yay us...
But this is not the point of the story. Carrie came into the room this morning to wake me up, I am bad with alarm clocks, and informed me of our future drummer. Lego woke up her by kicking and kicking and banging and banging. She said it was incredible and wished I could have felt it. It must be incredible for women to experience these things. We guys experience them second hand, but to be the mother must be all the more incredible.
Anyways... Lego, we adore you already and look forward to helping you with your energy and putting it towards something wonderful.

The baby's first video
I have been asked to post baby-lego's first video...
Enjoy...
The video for this was done via ultrasound at a top secret research institute...
So do not ask any questions. If you know of any producers in hollywood and would like to get Lego into a movie, we are cool with that.

How to take pictures of our Life Together

So I grew up, along with my sister, the constant subject of photos. You would think we were royalty and the tabloids were dying to get a photo of us. You see our father is an amature photographer and so we were always being photoed by him. Now I have inherited that tradition. I love taking pictures. And Carrie loves to have pictures taken. So tonight we went to look at digital SLR cameras "Big Boy Cameras." They are costly, but we are considering this, since we want great photos of Lego and we want to document life with him/her.
The camera that was recommended to us by Dan (at Tall's Cameras) was this sony Alpha A-200 10.2 Megapixel Digital SLR Outfit with an 18-70mm lens. It was great, but it is costly, so we are thinking about it.
In other important developments, Lego got a savings account today... Yeah Lego.

Imagining Life in the Future
I have experienced life changing events in my time. I mean being born myself, that was life changing. Going to school, meeting my future wife, getting married, becoming a rabbi... All of these things are life changing. But this event will probably take the cake. How can it not? This morning I walked into the "guest bedroom," and imagined its transformation into the "nursery." I tried to look at the walls in their future yellow. I tried to picture the furniture that we picked out. I tried, and it was tough. I tried to imagine it being a monday morning in March and Carrie is at work, and I am here on my day off and "lego" is waking up, and I peek in to see if it is a real wake up or will (s)he go back to sleep. I cannot wait for this life changing event... It is so exciting.

Kicking! Kicking and Kicking!
It has been so much fun feeling the baby move! Friday night and Saturday afternoon Lego was very busy! This morning I relaxed in bed, just to feel the movements.... I think the baby will be a drummer like his/her abba.
This afternoon we spent more time registering for all the fun things babies r us has for us. I even think we are almost all finished.. but with Josh having so much fun using the "gun" who ever knows.
We are going to go watch some more Olympic events.. the baby seems to like them- as it moves around during the events... do we have an athletic competitor in our midst?? one never knows!

Hello world. Carrie and I are happy to welcome you all to our first child's blog. Of course the baby is not able to do this on his/her own yet (no we do not know the gender). So we thought we would get this started on the baby's behalf.
So now I will tell you what we know.
We are in our 25th week of the pregnancy and on Wednesday we will be embarking upon week 26. We have numerous ultrasound pictures to share with all of you over time.
Right now we are working on Carrie not being uncomfortable and finding her clothes. We are also working on preparing ourselves and our house for baby Hearshen.
Carrie named the baby Lego when we saw the first ultrasound since it looked like "she swallowed a lego man." So we now refer to him/her as lego and this is no indication of the gender.
We just attended our infant CPR and Safety Class. Wow, there is a lot of stuff that we do not need to buy, and in fact should not buy.
Will write more later
